Victor Frankenstein creates the monster. He creates him as a scientific experiment but soon after begins to resent him. The monster faces rejection and fear from his creator and the society. He is left out on his own and forced to learn things first hand. The monster tries very hard to emulate and fit in with the society but, his appearance would not let him and the society rejects him. He grows angry and tries feels that Victor is to blame so then he sets out to punish him and his loved ones. The monster feels abandoned and longs for companionship. He feels that Victor is the one who can offer him that. He grows very close to Victor throughout the book that he feels he doesn't need to live when Victor dies in the end.
